Newswise — Washington, D.C. (October 8, 2012) – The Comeback America Initiative (CAI) $10 Million a Minute, Speak Out, Don’t Freak Out Tour is coming to American University on October 9. Princeton Review ranks American University students as the #1 Most Politically Active making American University the perfect stop for a forum aimed at university students to discuss the massive debt burden. The $70 trillion debt is measured by the Debt Burden Barometer.

The event will be a forum led by former U.S. Comptroller General and CAI CEO David M. Walker. The fiscal burden for every citizen, every college aged student, every child born is a whopping $227,000 and the nation’s overall debt (including unfunded promises and liabilities such as Medicare and Social Security) is $70 trillion and rising an astonishing $10 million per minute. The CAI $10 Million Dollar a Minute Tour bus will also be parked on the AU quad from midday on, making for a great visual where students will be able to obtain information.

In the forum, David Walker will discuss and answer student questions about why the $70 trillion and growing debt adds to the massive IOU being passed along to future generations, leading to a fiscal black hole. Results of a recent survey among university students will also be released.

David Walker is a political Independent and CAI is non-partisan and does not endorse any political candidates. Rather, CAI is encouraging citizens to seek serious answers from candidates and there is no better place to come than to American University where students are the most politically engaged.

CAI’s supporters span the political spectrum and include:

Former Senators Alan Simpson, Pete Domenici, Sam Nunn and Judd Gregg; Representatives Harold Ford, Jr. and Tom Coleman; former OMB and CBO director Alice Rivlin; past Federal Reserve Chairmen Alan Greenspan and Paul Volker; former DNC Chairs and Governors Ed Rendell and Roy Romer; former RNC Chairs Bill Brock and Mel Martinez; H.
