Newswise — SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (April 21, 2015) — More than 18,500 people from 99 countries came to San Francisco for the American Academy of Dermatology’s (Academy) 73rd Annual Meeting, which ran from March 20-24 at the Moscone Center.

The meeting featured nearly 400 educational sessions, during which more than 900 speakers presented new research and clinical information on the diagnosis and treatment of skin, hair and nail conditions.

“The Academy is dedicated to educating dermatologists about the latest developments in their field, and our Annual Meeting helped us further that mission,” said board-certified dermatologist Joan Guitart, MD, FAAD, chair of the Academy’s Scientific Assembly Committee. “The dermatologists who joined us in San Francisco gained valuable knowledge that will allow them to continue providing high-quality patient care in an ever-changing environment.”

More than 10,000 medical personnel attended the meeting, and researchers presented more than 1,000 scientific posters. More than 400 companies exhibited at the meeting, occupying more than 200,000 net square feet of exhibit space across three buildings.

The Academy’s 74th Annual Meeting will take place from March 4-8, 2016, in Washington, D.C.
