Newswise — The American College of Radiology (ACR) is now accepting applications for the Bruce J. Hillman Fellowship in Scholarly Publishing. The fellowship is designed to provide a concentrated, two week experience in medical editing, journalism and publishing for an interested and qualified staff radiologist. During the spring/summer of 2015, the selected fellow will travel for two weeks to ACR headquarters in Reston, Va., and receive hands-on experience editing and publishing the award-winning Journal of the American College of Radiology (JACR®) with the JACR Editor-in-Chief, Bruce J. Hillman, M.D., FACR, Deputy Editor Ruth Carlos, M.D., and JACR staff. He or she will also travel to New York City to spend time with the JACR’s publisher, Elsevier. The fellowship requires some reading prior to the travel and completion of a work project. To qualify for the fellowship, the radiologist must meet the following criteria:

• A minimum of three years in a post-training staff position at an academic or private practice • Membership in the ACR• Evidence of interest in medical journalism, including publishing articles and serving as a reviewer for medical journals or participating on an editorial board

“The goal of this fellowship is to sufficiently engage talented junior and mid-career radiologists to encourage them to pursue some aspect of medical journalism as a part of their subsequent career. This is an excellent opportunity for a radiologist who has a special interest in peer-reviewed journal activities and the JACR in general. I encourage everyone who is interested to apply,” said Bruce J. Hillman, M.D., FACR, editor-in-chief of the JACR.

Following the fellowship, the editor-in-chief may ask the fellow to serve on the JACR Editorial Board. Applications for the fellowship are due no later than Aug. 31, 2014. For more information, or to apply, please visit http://bit.ly/1A1Gjtv.
