Newswise — American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) President H. Hunt Batjer, MD, FAANS, announced that Ms. Kathleen Craig accepted the position as Executive Director of the AANS, the Neurosurgery Research and Education Foundation (NREF) and NeuroPoint Alliance (NPA). Craig succeeds Mr. Tom Marshall, who served as Executive Director for fifteen years.
With over twenty years of association management experience, including board and committee relations, strategic planning, financial management and program development, Craig brings an impressive résumé to her new position. Craig has managed NPA since it began, working with leadership to establish what is now the nation’s largest spine registry, the National Neurosurgery Quality and Outcomes Database (N2QOD). Since 2012, she served as the AANS’ Deputy Executive Director and was named Interim Executive Director in Nov. 2015. During her tenure with the AANS, she has overseen marketing communications, international programs and information technology initiatives.
“We have full confidence that Craig is the ideal person for this role and know that she will lead the organization forward, delivering best possible service to our members, staff and partner medical organizations,” commented Dr. Batjer.
Founded in 1931 as the Harvey Cushing Society, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) is a scientific and educational association with more than 9,000 members worldwide.
