Newswise — The American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Foundation announced today a new partnership with Pfizer Animal Health (Pfizer) that will establish the Pfizer Animal Health Fellowship Fund for Inflammation, Infectious Disease & Immunology.

Pfizer, a leader in animal health research and discovery, has granted $120,000 to the ACVIM Foundation, which includes funding for three grants of $30,000 each to fund research for small animal, livestock (excluding equine) and equine, and to administer the fund. The purpose of these grants is to support animal health studies with a focus on inflammation, infectious disease & immunology research.

“The ACVIM Foundation is committed to eliminating animal and human disease by supporting discovery, education, and partnerships throughout the global community of medicine,” said Paige Heydon, Director of the ACVIM Foundation. “This new strategic partnership with Pfizer Animal Health provides funding for advanced veterinary research that will go along way towards research around the diagnosis, treatment and/or prevention of disease in animals being conducted by ACVIM Diplomates”.

Grant proposals call will be issued December 1, 2012 and will close February 20th, 2013. Grants will be awarded by March 15, 2013. All approved grants must be completed within two years from the time the grant has been issued. For more information, visit ACVIMFoundation.org.
