Washington, DC (September 13, 2016)—The world’s largest gathering of kidney health professionals will join forces in Chicago from November 15–20, 2016, to discuss research discoveries and how to move them from bench to bedside during the American Society of Nephrology’s (ASN) Kidney Week 2016. More than 13,000 participants are expected for the annual event that focuses on improving the lives of more than 20 million Americans, and millions more worldwide, burdened by kidney disease—the ninth leading cause of death in the United States. This fall marks the association’s 50th year leading the fight against kidney diseases. ASN Kidney Week 2016 will also feature nearly 3,500 posters detailing new discoveries across the spectrum of basic science, clinical, and translational research, from acute kidney injury to transplantation, to methods of addressing health disparities. The conference will also feature information about leading advances in clinical kidney medicine in the High-Impact Clinical Trials and poster sessions for the Late-Breaking Clinical Trials. Participants can also attend 10 early “pre” program educational courses, offering the latest updates in personalized medicine, advances in research, critical care, and renal pathology. Four “State-of-the-Art” lectures will explore the potential of obesity and genetics, bioelectronic medicine, diabetic nephropathy, and enteroendocrine physiology drug design for type 2 diabetes and obesity.
