Newswise — Chicago, IL (Nov. 14, 2013): The Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN) presented Patricia Jackson, RN MS CRRN, with the 2013 ARN Case Manager Role Award. Jackson received her award at the 39th Annual ARN Educational Conference, held October 2-5 in Charlotte, NC.

The Case Manager Role Award recognizes a nurse who has actively engaged in the advancement of the case manager’s role within the rehabilitation field. Jackson works as the Polytrauma Nurse Coordinator at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington, KY, and has been an ARN member for 29 years.

In this role, Jackson provides support and education to veterans and their families, coordinates their plan of care and connects them to home and community based services. Jackson is very involved in the field of rehabilitation nursing, serving as a member of the VA national nursing Polytrauma/Rehabilitation/SCI Field Advisory Committee and the Brain Injury Alliance of KY, serving on the Honorary Board.

“Ms. Jackson has served as Case Manager in the Lexington KY VAMC Polytrauma Program since its beginning in 2006. Her credential of CRRN has been evident in the development of this program both locally in Lexington but also in the VISN 09 region of KY and Tennessee. Her rehabilitation expertise has been apparent in the case management role and the interdisciplinary team development, and is evident by positive comments received from veterans who access this service,” says Brenda French, MSN CRRN VHA-CM, in her nomination of Jackson for the award.
