Newswise — Babson College professor Candida G. Brush has been appointed the Vice Provost of Global Entrepreneurial Leadership. In her expanded role, Dr. Brush will coordinate and connect all that is entrepreneurial across campus, and broaden Babson’s external reputation to advance economic and social value around the world.

“Today, everyone, everywhere, is talking about entrepreneurship. Increasingly, the world recognizes it as a powerful force for solving the economic, social, and environmental issues confronting our world,” said Babson President Kerry Healey. “Through years of scholarship and service to Babson, Professor Candida Brush has shown that she possesses the innovative leadership and steadfast commitment necessary for achievement in this critical new position.”

As part of her new responsibilities, she will:

- Supervise the Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship, the Center for Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership (CWEL), and the Lewis Institute for Social Innovation;- Work with campus leaders to develop innovative initiatives that extend entrepreneurial thought and action on campus; - Coordinate opportunities for research collaboration, and - Represent Babson at academic and business education forums, including AACSB, Academy of Management, and EQUIS.

Currently, Dr. Brush serves as the Franklin W. Olin Professor in Entrepreneurship and the Faculty Research Director of the Arthur M. Blank Center, and has been the Division Chair for Entrepreneurship for the past 10 years. She has served on both the development team for Babson’s new Masters of Science in Management in Entrepreneurial Leadership program, and the Bertarelli Foundation Endowed Chair Task Force.

Dr. Brush is a Visiting Adjunct Professor to the University of Nordlands, Bodø Graduate School, Bodø, Norway. She is a co-founder of the Diana Project; a research collaborative recognized as the 2007 recipient of the FSF, Swedish Research Foundation International Award for Outstanding Research Contributions in the Field of Entrepreneurship. She is the author of 10 books, 22 book chapters, and more than 100 articles published in scholarly journals. Most recently, she is a co-author of Teaching Entrepreneurship: A Practice Based Approach. Dr. Brush was also the recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy degree in Business and Economics from the Jönköping University in Sweden.

Prior to joining Babson, Professor Brush was an Associate Professor of Strategy and Policy, Founder of the Council for Women’s Entrepreneurship and Leadership, and Research Director for the Entrepreneurial Management Institute at Boston University. She received her DBA from Boston University, an MBA from Boston College, and a BA from the University of Colorado.
