Newswise — Austin, TX – (December 3, 2015) The Statesman Capitol 10,000 is pleased to announce a new relationship: Baylor Scott & White Health is the annual race’s new presenting sponsor. The race will take its mark in downtown Austin on April 10, 2016.

“What a well-matched sponsorship: The largest not-for-profit health care system in Texas and the largest 10K in Texas,” said Susie Gray, publisher of the Austin American-Statesman. “Through Baylor Scott & White Health’s significant sponsorship support, this beloved community race will continue to celebrate fitness, fun and family. And this sponsorship couldn’t have been more timely as we approach the 39th annual race in 2016 and look ahead to the noteworthy 40th running in 2017.”

“Baylor Scott & White is committed to the health and well-being of its communities, and we’re very proud to sponsor this incredible event in Austin,” said Jay Fox, president, Baylor Scott & White Austin/Round Rock Region. “Supporting such an event, which is an example of individuals taking positive action for their own fitness, is directly in line with our population health mission.”

This year, the Cap10K will benefit The Trail Foundation. The Trail Foundation helps protect and enhance the Butler Trail at Lady Bird Lake through careful improvements to the Trail and advancing conservation. Also noteworthy this year, the Statesman named Leo Manzano, 2012 Olympic silver medalist in the 1,500 meters, as the 2016 Cap10K Race Ambassador.

The sponsorship agreement was brokered by Connect Partnership Group, the official sponsorship sales and consulting agency of the Austin American-Statesman.

In its 39th year, the Cap10K is the largest 10K race in Texas and one of the top 10 in the nation. The Cap10K began in 1978 with 3,400 participants. In 2015, the race had more than 18,000 registered participants. Additional race information, including how to register, is available at www.cap10k.com.
