Newswise — Holmdel, NJ – January 13, 2014 – Bayshore Community Hospital recently unveiled its new Multi-specialty Interventional Suite, outfitted with advanced technology capable of performing complex minimally invasive cardiovascular, endovascular, and interventional radiology procedures.

Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the United States. And, in the event of an emergency, having access to the best intervention in your own community can be a lifesaver. As part of Meridian Cardiovascular Network, Bayshore continues to make advances, such as the addition of this new technology, to bring the best cardiovascular care to the local community.

In the past year, Bayshore also received approval from the Department of Health as a Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) Hospital to provide emergency angioplasty procedures on patients experiencing a heart attack. Additionally, Bayshore, along with the other four hospitals of Meridian Health, became an Accredited Chest Pain Center, making Meridian Health the first system in New Jersey to achieve this status.

Funded in part through a generous gift from Janice Mitchell-Vassar, the new Multi-specialty Interventional Suite provides physicians with the technology to do what they do best to treat heart disease as well as other many other diseases and conditions with life-saving endovascular and radiologic interventions.

“This new technology offers patients advanced diagnostic and therapeutic options in a comfortable setting,” says Shaddy Younan, M.D., medical director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at Bayshore. “The increased detail and clarity of this new technology now available at Bayshore means local residents won’t have to travel to receive high quality care. The Bayshore team will now offer an enhanced experience for patients and the community.”

According to Tim Hogan, FACHE, regional hospital president, Monmouth County, “The opening of the Multi-specialty Interventional Suite provides our community with immediate access to the best cardiovascular intervention as well as a direct connection to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, the regional provider of cardiac surgery, in the event that cardiac surgery is required.”

Arlene Schutzer of Aberdeen experienced Bayshore’s care this past Mother’s Day when Dr. Younan saved her life by restoring blood flow to her heart through an emergency angioplasty. “The care everyone provided me was phenomenal. Everyone was attentive and kind,” Arlene says. “I am lucky that Bayshore is so close.”
