Newswise — ARLINGTON, VA – CRDF Global announces the recipients of the 7th annual George Brown Award for International Scientific Cooperation: Mr. William Draper III, general partner of Draper Richards L.P and Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation co-chairman; Dr. David Hamburg, Carnegie Corporation of New York president emeritus, former president of AAAS and the Institute of Medicine; and Dr. Charles Vest, president, National Academy of Engineering and president emeritus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The 2012 George Brown Award presentations will take place Tuesday, December 4, at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center Pavilion in Washington, DC.

The George Brown Award recognizes individuals whose life work has advanced the vision of the late California Congressman George E. Brown, Jr. The annual event has become the showcase for many pioneers and heroes of the international science and technology community and has attracted luminaries from the public and private sectors, and representatives of more than 40 nations.

“Under the theme, Vision, Leadership, Progress,” said CRDF Global President and CEO Cathy Campbell, “it is quite fitting that we recognize the accomplishments David Hamburg—an agent of peace-building progress; visionary businessman Bill Draper; and academic leader Charles Vest.
