Newswise — BOSTON – (February 2, 2016) – Joslin Diabetes Center, the world-renowned diabetes expert, has appointed John A. Perry, CFRE, a skilled fundraising professional with extensive experience in healthcare philanthropy, as Chief Development Officer effective February 1.

Mr. Perry’s three decades of fundraising experience includes 15 years within the medical and healthcare sectors. His previous appointment was at Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School, where he was Senior Associate Dean for Medical Advancement, serving as the Chief Advancement Officer in charge of philanthropy, stewardship, and alumni and parent relations for the medical school.

Prior to joining Brown in 2010, Mr. Perry served as Director of Development for the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan; Chief Development Officer at the Oakwood Healthcare System in Dearborn, Michigan; and Director of Major Gifts at the Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit Michigan. “The Joslin community, which consists of dedicated patients, families, caregivers, clinicians, researchers and donors, share a passionate commitment to be the preeminent institution in the fight against diabetes,” said Mr. Perry. “It is a privilege and honor for me to join in this fight and commit to a significant growth in philanthropic resources necessary to fund this vital mission.”

A Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), Mr. Perry holds a BA in Psychology from DePauw University and a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University. Mr. Perry has been active in the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and served as chair for the AHP’s Midwest Regional Conference and as a member of the Midwest Regional Board.
