Justin G. Trogdon, Ph.D., is a health economist in RTI International's Public Health Economics Program. His new study, published in The American Journal of Managed Care, found that cancer-related medical costs, already a significant portion of overall medical expenses in the United States, will more than double in some states in less than eight years. The study includes state-by-state projections of cancer care costs through the year 2020.

Trogdon’s current research includes methods for estimating the cost of disease with applications in obesity, chronic disease, cancer and tobacco. He has also been involved in program evaluation and cost-effectiveness studies, systems modeling of cardiovascular disease, and the impact of social networks on obesity.
