Newswise — Loren E. Wold, PhD, FAHA, principal investigator in the Center for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Research at The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of Life Sciences effective January 1, 2013. The journal’s editorial office will relocate to The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s after nearly 40 years at The University of Arizona, where Dr. Wold will lead the team of Executive Editors and more than 40 Associate Editors.
Life Sciences is an international weekly journal that was started by Dr. Bernard B. Brodie at Duke University in 1962 and moved to The University of Arizona in 1973. The journal publishes articles that emphasize the molecular, cellular and functional basis of therapy, highlighting mechanisms that are relevant to all aspects of human disease and translation to patients.
Dr. Wold is a tenured Associate Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University (OSU) College of Medicine. He is also an Investigator in the Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute, and an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology at OSU. Dr. Wold’s National Institutes of Health and American Heart Association funded research program focuses on the effects of environmental triggers of disease, particularly heart disease. He completed his undergraduate degree at Boston University (1997), graduate school at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences (2003) and post-doctoral studies at the Heart Institute, Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA (2005). Dr. Wold is currently an Executive Editor of Life Sciences.
