Newswise — The American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) is pleased to announce the selection of Peter A. Grant, MD, to lead the organization in 2012-13 as its new president. Dr. Grant replaces John Kincaid, MD, of Indiana, who completed his term on October 4, 2012.
Dr. Grant attended medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine and graduated in 1982. He completed additional training in physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as electrodiagnostic (EDX) medicine at The Ohio State University Medical Center. He has been practicing in Medford for 27 years and has offices in Grants Pass and Mount Shasta, CA. In addition, he has lectured extensively on the topics of carpal tunnel syndrome and generalized neuropathy and is considered a national expert in identifying and combating fraud and abuse in EDX medicine.
A member of AANEM since 1984, Dr. Grant has served on several committees including the Professional Practice, Finance, and Executive Committees and founded the EDX Laboratory Accreditation Committee. His other leadership experience includes service as the Secretary/Treasurer of the AANEM for three years. As president, he will lead the Board of Directors, which has responsibility for the association's strategic planning, policy creation, financial oversight, and executive director supervision.

In addition to maintaining these traditions, I hope to bring an increased awareness to our members of how fraud and abuse negatively impact all of us–physicians and patients alike–and help them to better identify and combat these unethical practices.”
AANEM Executive Director Shirlyn Adkins added, “During Dr. Grant’s time on the AANEM Board he has promoted quality care and was pivotal in helping AANEM develop valuable programming. As AANEM President, I know he will continue to bring attention to the fraud and abuse problems impacting patient care. I look forward to working with him on these critical issues.”
