Newswise — Utah State University professor Robert Pack is a national expert on landslides. Pack's specific area of expertise and research is in rain-induced landslides such as the one that occurred in the Philippines. Pack was appointed by the National Academy of Engineers as a leader of the team that studied the rain-induced landslides in Utah in 1983.

Pack spent 10 years researching in British Columbia and has done extensive private consulting work. He also studies landsides caused by snow melt and earthquakes.

Pack is currently working with Utah State hydrologist David Tarboton on developing tools to predict and prevent precipitation-induced landslides.

Pack is available after hours and over the weekend for interviews.
