The United Nations climate talks underway Dec. 1 through 14 in Lima, Peru, are the world's last chance to get issues on the table before an international climate agreement is signed in Paris in 2015. Virtually every country in the world will be represented at the negotiations, along with stakeholders from businesses, organizations and the private sector worldwide.

Arizona State University is a leader in sustainability expertise. Three ASU faculty members will participate in the Twentieth Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 20).

Global climate policy expert Sonja Klinsky is available to discuss the history of the negotiations, the current issues on the table in Lima, what an international agreement can accomplish – and what it can't.

International environmental law expert Daniel Bodansky is available to discuss the key legal issues of the 2015 Paris agreement and the history of these UN negotiations. He can also explain policy options such as carbon taxes, cap-and-trade and non-market regulatory options – how they are linked and how the Paris agreement might help or hinder these linkages. Climate science and policy expert Kevin Gurney is available to discuss recent research on carbon monitoring, how cities worldwide can map out their emissions to inform city planning and reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Gurney can also discuss the idea of GHG credits – how they can be quantified and banked.
