Newswise — CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia - The University of Virginia Darden School of Business and the Darden School Foundation today announced the election of a new trustee, Frank Sands Jr., who will serve a three-year term, effective immediately.

“Frank Sands Jr. is an excellent addition to our board,” said Phil Knisely, chairman of the Darden School Foundation Board of Trustees. “His business experience and entrepreneurial skills will add great value to the group.”

Frank Sands Jr. is chief executive officer and chief investment officer at Sands Capital Management in Arlington, Virginia. After joining Sands Capital in 2000, he held the positions of managing director, director of research, senior portfolio manager, and president and director of research. Prior to joining Sands Capital, he held the various positions of research analyst, portfolio manager, and principal at Fayez Sarofim & Co. for six years. Sands received an MBA from Darden in 1994, an M.S. from Johns Hopkins University in 1993, and a B.A. from Washington & Lee University in 1989.
