DETAILS: On Saturday, April 21, the American Academy of Neurology Foundation will host the Brain Health Fair, a free, day-long family event connecting patients, families and caregivers affected by a neurologic disorder with important resources to battle brain disease. This event is scheduled for the opening day of the 64th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Neurology, which will bring nearly 12,000 healthcare professionals to New Orleans April 21-28. The Brain Health Fair also coincides with the start of “Brain Health Awareness Week,” as declared by Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal.

As part of the keynote address, the Foundation will present Steve Gleason with a National Achievement Award for his extraordinary efforts in recruiting supporters and increasing awareness about ALS.

Attendees of the Brain Health Fair will have the opportunity to attend free classes taught by leading neurologists about the latest research advances in Alzheimer’s disease, autism, brain injuries, epilepsy, headaches, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, sleep disorders, stroke and other types of brain disease. More than 30 exhibitors will also offer tips on topics such as how to prevent diabetes and stroke, how to spot a concussion, support groups, activities for kids and teens and free giveaways and resources.
