Newswise — TOLEDO, Ohio, Jan. 3, 2014 – Fremont-based Memorial Hospital has officially become a member of the ProMedica system.

“We are very pleased to have Memorial Hospital join ProMedica,” says Randy Oostra, president and chief executive officer, ProMedica. “Both organizations are dedicated to achieving the same overarching Mission: to improve the health and well-being of the people we serve. Memorial Hospital joining ProMedica will help facilitate collaborative endeavors to better address critical health and social needs throughout the community. It is imperative that organizations such as ours seek to achieve more effective and efficient clinical integration as we expand access to exceptional care.” Memorial Hospital is a non-profit medical center that has served Fremont and Sandusky County for more than 90 years. The 186-bed facility offers comprehensive healthcare services including emergency care, a state-of-the-art surgery center, inpatient pediatrics and a birthing center.

“Since 1918, Memorial Hospital has provided top notch health care,” says Pamela Jensen, president, Memorial Hospital. “Partnering with ProMedica will ensure that our hospital remains an integral component of the health and well-being of the communities we serve.”

“While the process of joining ProMedica and Memorial Hospital has been methodical and detailed, in many ways, the work starts now as our internal teams begin to meet in earnest, seeking ways to enhance access to superior health care, increase efficiencies and determine ways to coordinate care more effectively,” says Jensen.

Jensen joined Memorial Hospital as president in January 2013. One of the first areas of focus for her second year will be service line and clinical integration. Jensen will work with associates from Memorial Hospital and ProMedica to begin identifying opportunities for collaboration.

“We are prepared for a challenging year and the need for top-quality health care has never been greater,” says Jensen. “As a member of ProMedica, we will have access to more resources and expertise to enhance the quality of patient care and meet the critical needs of our communities.”
