Charles Samenow, MD, MPH is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at George Washington University where he is the course director for medical education in psychopathology and human sexuality. He completed his undergraduate and medical training at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He received his Masters in Public Health at the University of Michigan School of Public Health in Health Behaviors and Health Education. Dr. Samenow completed his adult psychiatry training and fellowship in psychosomatic medicine at Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Samenow has received multiple honors and awards including election to Phi Beta Kappa, receipt of the American Medical Association (AMA) Foundation’s Leadership Development Award, and the 1999 Exemplary Substance Abuse Prevention Program Award presented on Capital Hill by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH) and is editor of Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity: The Journal of Treatment and Prevention.
