Plans are underway for the 2nd annual IEEE Conference on Ultra Wideband Systems and Technologies. UWB technology continues to excite the imagination, promising reliable high bandwidth communications and sensing technology. The initial euphoria following the FCC decision on UWB frequency allocation in February 2002 has given way to steady progress in the theoretical understanding of UWB technology. Practical applications of UWB technology to Personal Area Networks, location and sensing, and secure communications are now on the near horizon.

This year's conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Reston, in Reston, Virginia, near our nation's capital. Conference dates are November 16-19, 2003, with tutorials on Monday, November 17, and technical paper presentations following on Tuesday, November 18 and Wednesday, November 19.

A call for technical papers for this event has been issued, and appears on this website. We invite you to consider submitting contributions from your work. Regardless of whether you plan on participating in the conference as a technical contributor or as an attendee, we look forward to seeing you in Reston, Virginia this November.

The 2003 Conference Chair is Dr. Jeffrey Reed with the Mobile and Portable Radio Research Group (MPRG) at Virginia Tech.
