Newswise — CHICAGO — The Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) today announced a new Institute of Food Technologists Student Association (IFTSA) student competition called the “IFTSA Thesis Video Challenge sponsored by Campden BRI.” This competition is an opportunity for students to hone their scientific communications skills in a creative manner and win a trip to the UK to get a taste of the European food and drink industry.

Interested students need to submit a fun, creative three-minute video related to original research being conducted by the student during their graduate studies on any subject related to food science or technology. Additionally students will submit a personal statement explaining why they should be chosen to visit Campden BRI and the different ways they plan to capture their experience through various social media channels.

In order to be eligible, students must be currently enrolled in a collegiate level food science graduate level degree program (MS or PhD). They must also be a current student member of IFT who has not graduated prior to May 2016.

Campden BRI provides the food and drink industry with the practical scientific, technical and advisory services needed to ensure product safety and quality, process efficiency, and product and process innovation. The winner of the “IFTSA Thesis Video Challenge sponsored by Campden BRI” will spend ten days at Campden BRI in the United Kingdom. There they will have the opportunity to meet industry members and experience each of the company’s divisions (science, technology, brewing, and knowledge management), focusing on the most relevant areas of their area of study.

Deadline for submissions is April 1, 2016. The winner will be announced at the IFTSA Closing Ceremony during IFT16 in Chicago, Illinois, July 18, 2016. Campden BRI is sponsoring the competition and covering the student’s travel costs up to a value of $7,500.
