The annual meetings for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group boards of governors will take place Oct. 10-12 in Washington, D.C. The George Washington University has experts available to discuss issues facing both groups.

Danny Leipziger, professor of international business, formerly headed the World Bank’s Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Network and is available to comment on income distribution, urbanization, the BRICS bank, the role of the IMF and economic policies to counter low growth prospects.

Robert Maguire, professor of practice of international affairs, is an expert on development, poverty alleviation and the geopolitics of oil. He is available to comment on post-disaster development and the alleviation of poverty.

Kathy Newcomer, director of the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration, is available to speak about policy and program evaluation, performance measurement and evidence-based policy as they relate to the priorities of the IMF and World Bank.

Sean Roberts, director of the International Development Studies Program, is an expert on development theory, indigenous rights, Central Asia, the former Soviet Union and China. He is available to comment on the World Bank’s increasing focus on governance, the controversy regarding the new draft safeguard policy for indigenous peoples and the World Bank president’s unique role as an anthropologist.
