Newswise — (Chicago – Dec. 17, 2014) The Institute of Medicine of Chicago (IOMC) has announced its Fall 2014 Class of Fellows, a group of health care leaders from a variety of disciplines and organizations in the Chicago area. Forty five Fellows were inducted in 2014, joining a membership that now totals 418.
IOMC Fellows are graduates in medicine, nursing, dentistry and allied health fields, or distinguished persons engaged in allied health pursuits. By becoming Fellows, they are formally recognized as individuals whose professional contributions are meritorious, who demonstrate leadership in improving the health of the community, and who manifest the highest ethics, standards, and principles of professionalism.
As Fellows of the IOMC they join a distinguished group of local health care leaders who collaborate to improve the health of the public. Drawing upon the expertise of a diverse membership and other regional leaders, the IOMC addresses critical health issues through a range of interdisciplinary approaches including education, research, communication of trusted information, and community engagement.
IOMC Fellows participate in a variety of initiatives and activities offered by the Institute, ranging from educational and networking programs to advocacy and fundraising projects to address public health issues.
IOMC is advancing a major initiative to address health disparities impacting underserved populations in Chicago as it celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2015.
“We are delighted to welcome this new group of Fellows to our organization, where their ideas, energy and talents will help us as we continue to grow and expand our impact in helping shape Chicago’s health care environment,” said IOMC President Barry S. Eisenberg, MS, CAE, who also serves as Executive Director of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. “With the health of the public at its core, IOMC continues to build new programs and services to better meet the needs of its members and the Chicagoland health community.”
