Newswise — San Francisco, CA – May 23, 2011 – The International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS) announces the awarding of two $80,000 grants as part of their 2011 Clinical Scholar Research Awards. The awards are part of the IARS grants program, which has issued more than $10,000,000 in anesthesia research grants over the last thirty years.

The two recipients of the IARS 2011 Clinical Scholar Research Awards are Rebecca Aslakson, MD, MSci of Johns Hopkins Medical Institution for her project “Crafting a Palliative Care Intervention for Surgical Intensive Care Uunit Patients” and Wilton A. van Klei, MD, PhD of University Medical Center Utrecht for his project “Effect of Routine Postoperative Troponin Measurements on One Year Cardiac Events and Death.” Each recipient will receive an $80,000 research grant from the IARS.
