Newswise — The US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) estimates that almost two million patients contract an infection in hospitals across the country every year. It is a serious and costly patient safety issue. Thomas Jefferson University Hospital takes preventing infections seriously, but also creatively. Its latest effort to get more employees to wash their hands is a music video take on Michael Jackson’s classic Beat It.

Wash ‘Em is a six-minute video featuring new lyrics and an inspired dance number featuring everyone from the CEO of the hospital to members of the environmental services department. It shows that preventing hospital-acquired infections is everyone’s responsibility.
