Some breast cancer survivors may be at heightened risk for developing lymphedema as a result of their treatment. Effective therapy for lymphedema is available. A certified lymphedema therapist from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital’s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is available to answer questions about lymphedema and the specialized therapy that allows patients to control this lifelong condition.

“Effective treatment is available. Lymphedema can present differently in each patient, but with early diagnosis and treatment, patients can manage this condition,” said Judith Folweiler, Jefferson therapist. “If you or a loved one is looking for a lymphedema therapist, I recommend looking for someone with the CLT (certified lymphedema specialist) credentials, which indicates that they have had intensive, specialized training.”

Judith Folweiler, OTR/L, CHT, CLT, has over 34 years’ experience in occupational therapy, 16 years’ experience as a certified hand therapist and five years’ experience as a certified lymphedema therapist.

To schedule an interview with Ms. Folweiler, please contact Gail Benner, Public Affairs Representative, Thomas Jefferson University and Hospitals at 215-955-2240 or [email protected].
