Newswise — This year the Jersey Shore University Medical Center Foundation is proud to announce the launch of Soiree at the Shore, a new and exciting event taking the calendar date of the successful Runway on the River.

This beach chic summer kickoff cocktail party will take place on Thursday, May 24 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Long Branch at The Avenue in Pier Village. The event is being chaired by Caryn and Andrew Elkwood, M.D. of Morganville.

Funds raised at Soiree at the Shore will support the critical expansion program at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center which includes the following three critical areas:• The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit – will add 4 intensive care beds (increasing the total to 10), add a second nursing station for patient monitoring, and create a family conference room.• The Acute Care Unit – 14 private rooms (increasing the total of inpatient beds to 44) have been added along with a new playroom, family area and procedure room.• The Pediatric Specialty Care Center – have outfitted a 25,000 square foot building with 8 suites including sports medicine, dental, endocrinology, gastroenterology, infant apnea with pulmonology, multi-specialty suite of hematology, oncology, nephrology and infectious diseases, child evaluation center, autism services, pediatric neurology, child protection center and academic offices.
