Newswise — The Johns Hopkins Outpatient Pharmacy located in The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, announced today that it was accredited by the Center for Pharmacy Practice Accreditation (CPPA) under its community pharmacy practice standard.
“We are very excited that the distinguished Johns Hopkins Outpatient Pharmacy is one of the first in the nation to be accredited for the full scope of patient care services they offer,” says CPPA executive director Lynnae Mahaney, B.S.Pharm., M.B.A. CPPA accreditation offers the over 60,000 U.S. outpatient pharmacy practices in communities, hospitals, health systems and clinics a unique opportunity to demonstrate excellence to patients, payers, health care providers and the public.
Johns Hopkins was part of the CPPA’s pilot of its voluntary accreditation program, which included testing of the policy and procedure assessments and on-site survey.

CPPA was launched in 2012 as a partnership among the American Pharmacists Association, the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy and the American Society of Health System Pharmacists to create a national, voluntary accreditation program that meets the public’s need for assessing specific, predictable and measurable pharmacy-based patient care services.
