Hill has been named as Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Nursing Administration (JONA), published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, a Wolters Kluwer Health business. Dr. Hill, RN, DNP, NEA-BC, FACHE, is Vice President, Nurse Executive at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky, and recognized for her expertise in leadership development, intergenerational workforce, and retention of nurses as well as extensive publishing experience. The Journal of Nursing Administration (JONA), published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, a Wolters Kluwer Health business. Dr. Hill, RN, DNP, NEA-BC, FACHE, is Vice President, Nurse Executive at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky, and recognized for her expertise in leadership development, intergenerational workforce, and retention of nurses as well as extensive publishing experience.

She has published extensively, with over 60 articles in a variety of journals, including The Journal of Nursing Administration (JONA) and Nursing Management. Dr. Hill previously served as a columnist and member of JONA’s Editorial Board, and is also a columnist along with various co-authors among her nursing staff for Sigma Theta Tau International’s (STTI) electronic newsletter, Reflections on Nursing Leadership.

Under Dr. Hill’s leadership, Central Baptist Hospital was recognized as a Magnet Facility in 2005 and re-designated in 2010. Dr. Hill was one of the six authors of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s (RWJF) project Wisdom Works: The Retention of the Older and Experienced Nurse (2006) and several subsequent articles. In 2009, she received a grant from the AONE Foundation for the development of a model for career coaching in nursing.

Dr. Hill has been a speaker at numerous national meetings of major organizations including the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) and the National Magnet Conference. She is the Treasurer of the Board of Commissioners and member of the Board for the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and a member of the Hospital Advisory Commission for The Joint Commission. She received her MSN and DNP degrees from the University of Kentucky. Certified in Nursing Administration, advanced, and Perioperative Nursing, she is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Dr. Hill was selected as a RWJF Executive Nurse Fellow in 2000 and was recognized by HcPRO as the National Nursing Image Recipient in 2010.

Dr. Hill replaces Suzanne P Smith, EdD, RN, FAAN, who served as JONA’s editor-in-chief for the last thirty years. Dr. Smith will assume the role of JONA Consulting Editor in May and will remain Editor-in-Chief of Nurse Educator.
