Newswise — Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, a leading international publisher of professional health information for physicians, nurses, specialized clinicians and students, has launched Journal of Patient Safety, a new publication focusing on patient safety and error reduction in healthcare settings. This peer-reviewed, quarterly journal presents research advances and field applications in all areas of patient safety, and its first issue recently published.

Journal of Patient Safety is headed by Editor-in-Chief Nancy W. Dickey, MD, president and vice chancellor for Health Affairs at the A&M System Health Science Center in College Station, Texas. "Patient safety is becoming a major driver in healthcare, and by sharing information on this topic, Journal of Patient Safety will be an important resource that enhances the care of every patient."

The journal has been named the official journal of the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF), a non-profit organization of medical professionals that has taken a leading role in this burgeoning area of healthcare.
