BACKGROUND: Raj Raghunathan is a marketing professor and researcher at the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin. His work connects theories from psychology, behavioral sciences, decision theory and marketing. His research frequently counters conventional wisdom about consumer motivation and why buyers behave as they do.

His newest book, If You’re So Smart, Why Aren’t You Happy? educates readers on some of the best research available, including how the keys to success itself may deflate happiness. Raghunathan illustrates the seven most common predispositions that successful people need to conquer, and the seven habits they should take up instead.

Ragunathan received his Ph.D. in marketing from the Stern School of Business at New York University, his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and his Bachelors of Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences.
