The view from the boat, looking back to Cape Disappointment at the very tip of southwestern Washington state, where the Columbia River enters the ocean. Altogether the crew dropped into the ocean 20 detectors, each about 1.5 miles apart from another, in the summer of 2010, then recovered them, downloaded their data, and redeployed the devices.
