A Southern house mosquito, or Culex quinquefasciatus, emerges from the pupal exuviae, or cast skin, onto water. University of Florida researchers at the Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory in Vero Beach have found that the West Nile virus had interesting and unexpected affects on the mosquito's lifespan.
