Mount Sinai Named to 2016 “Most Wired™” List

Newswise — (NEW YORK – July 11, 2016) – In recognition of its innovative use of technology to improve the efficiency of care delivery and to create a new dynamic in patient interactions, Mount Sinai Health System has been named a 2016 “Most Wired” winner, according to results of the 18th Annual Health Care’s Most Wired® survey, released by the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Health Forum.

“We are honored to receive the 2016 Most Wired award,” said Kumar Chatani, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Mount Sinai Health System. “Our health system is making a substantial investment in technology to advance medicine through education, research and community outreach.”

Mount Sinai was named a winner for a variety of initiatives including advances in population health, innovative patient engagement initiatives, and a robust Health Information Exchange that is streamlining interoperability and improving collaboration.

“Innovation in information technology is a key component of improving the patient experience, helping to ensure positive patient outcomes and making population health management possible,” said Kenneth L. Davis, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Mount Sinai Health System. “We are proud to be recognized with this prestigious award and congratulate our IT staff on a job truly well done.”

“Hospitals are breaking out of their traditional four walls and providing care where and when patients need it,” said Rick Pollack, president and CEO of the AHA. “These Most Wired hospitals exemplify this transformation by harnessing technology, engaging patients, and offering services remotely. And removing policy and other barriers to telehealth will allow even faster adoption of these amazing technologies.”

Health Care’s Most Wired survey, conducted between January 15 and March 15, 2016, is published annually by Health & Hospitals Networks (H&HN). The 2016 Most Wired survey and benchmarking study is a leading industry barometer measuring IT use and adoption among hospitals nationwide. The survey of more than 680 participants, representing more than 2,146 hospitals or 34 percent of all hospitals in the United States, examines how organizations are leveraging IT to improve performance for value-based health care in the areas of infrastructure, business and administrative management; quality and safety; and clinical integration.

Detailed results of the survey and study can be found in the July issue of H&HN. For a full list of winners, visit www.hhnmag.com.
