Mount Sinai Queens Opens New Outpatient Imaging Facility

Newswise — (Queens, NY-June 27, 2016) Mount Sinai Queens is pleased to announce the opening of Mount Sinai Queens Imaging, its new outpatient imaging facility. Mount Sinai Queens Imaging is located on the second floor of the new Ambulatory Pavilion, part of the hospital’s $175-million expansion that heralds a new era of health care in Queens.

Mount Sinai Queens Imaging offers the latest diagnostic equipment, including PET/CT Scan, MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray, Mammography and Bone Density to perform a full range of sophisticated studies, providing the most detailed information at the lowest possible radiation levels. All images are read by fellowship-trained, board certified radiologists who also serve on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

“Using cutting-edge technology, our expert team of radiologists is able to diagnose conditions in their earliest stages enabling us to treat our patients more effectively than ever before,” says Darren Fitzpatrick, MD, Assistant Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Chief of Radiology at Mount Sinai Queens. “We are now able to provide radiology services to everyone, from women who need mammograms to anyone with a prescription from their doctor.”

The opening of the new 140,000-square-foot Mount Sinai Queens Ambulatory Pavilion, where Mount Sinai Imaging is located, marks the largest new medical construction in Queens in recent years.

“As Mount Sinai Queens continues to grow, we are expanding the role we play in all aspects of our neighbors’ health, from doctor visits and imaging tests to outpatient surgery and cancer care,” says Caryn A. Schwab, Executive Director, Mount Sinai Queens. “Our state-of-the-art imaging facility is one more way for us to keep the residents of western Queens healthy and out of the hospital.”

The Mount Sinai Queens Ambulatory Pavilion also includes the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Emergency Department, featuring a separate pediatric emergency area with a family-friendly waiting room, cardiac and critical care resuscitation rooms, and bariatric- and dialysis-capable treatment rooms. The new 20,000-square-foot Emergency Department is nearly five times the size of the former emergency room facility. The new building will also be home to Mount Sinai Doctors, a new multispecialty physician practice, and new state-of-the-art operating rooms.

“The expansion of Mount Sinai Queens enables the hospital to grow with the communities of western Queens and beyond as they undergo increased residential and commercial development,” says Brian D. Radbill, MD, FACP, Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs. “We are proud to offer our neighbors, among the most diverse in the country, the highest level of personalized, patient-centered care.”

Mount Sinai Queens Imaging is located at 25-20 30th Avenue, in Astoria, Queens. For more information about Mount Sinai Queens Imaging or to make an appointment, please call 718-808-7500.
