Newswise — On October 1, JoVE, the Journal of Visualized Experiments, will launch its ninth section, Environment. Visualizing novel techniques in green technology and environmental science, the section gives special attention to understanding Earth, protecting natural resources and creating a sustainable and environmentally-conscious planet.
“The demand for environmental research is rapidly expanding—in government programs, in industry, and at universities,” said JoVE’s CEO, Dr. Moshe Pritsker. For him, Environment is the result of such groups’ growing participation in environmental science research and application.
Pritzker said that creation of the Environment section was a natural next step for JoVE. “Our video-publication approach will be helpful to environmental researchers and students in the same way it has been helpful to the scientists and students in biological sciences,” he said, “The success of our approach in biology was the foundation for launch of the Environment section.”
Microalgae-biofuels, pollution-reducing algae for industrial exhaust systems—Environment’s launch will be accompanied by the publication of six video-articles that set a clear tone for the new collection. Dr. Aaron Kolski-Andreaco, Director of Content at JoVE, said, “Given the importance of finding alternative energy sources and mitigating pollution, we feel that a library of video-articles devoted to topics in this area of research will greatly benefit our society and, of course, our environment.”
