MICHAEL BENNINGER, MD, IS THE NEW EDITOR OF OTOLARYNGOLOGY -- HEAD AND NECK SURGERY

Alexandria, VA -- Michael S. Benninger, MD, Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology--Head and Neck Surgery at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, is the new Editor in Chief of the world's premiere otolaryngologic journal, Otolaryngology -- Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Benninger will succeed G. Richard Holt, MD, on July 1, 2000.

The publication is the official journal of the American Academy of Otolaryngology -- Head and Neck Surgery Foundation, Inc. and the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. The peer-reviewed journal, published monthly, invites the submission of articles on topics related to otolaryngology--head and neck surgery. Otolaryngology -- Head and Neck Surgery is published by Mosby, Inc. with a circulation of 11,000.

Dr. Benninger is presently vice-president of the American Academy of Otolaryngology -- Head and Neck Surgery and its Foundation. He has served as Editor in Chief of The Online Interactive Journal of Otolaryngology, the first completely online medical journal. Dr. Benninger currently holds appointments to the editorial boards of American Journal of Rhinology and the Journal of Voice. He earned his medical degree from Case Western University in 1983 and completed his residency in otolaryngology and communicative disorders at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 1988.

Concurrent with the selection a new Editor in Chief is the relocation of the journal's editorial office from San Antonio, TX, to the headquarters of the American Academy of Otolaryngology -- Head and Neck Surgery Foundation, Inc. in Alexandria, VA.
