Newswise — Reston, VAPablo R. Ros, MD, MPH, PhD, FACR, the new physician-in-chief of the American College of Radiology (ACR) Education Center, will stress emerging modality training and program expansion to maintain the facility’s unique role for advanced skills and case-based training.

“Dr. Ros brings a new strategic direction to one of the most technologically advanced training facilities in the world,” noted ACR chief executive officer William T. Thorwarth Jr., MD, FACR. “To have a physician-in-chief of his caliber lead our medical education program at the ACR Education Center will immensely benefit radiologists looking to strengthen practices and become better providers in a value-based, collaborative health care environment,” he added.

Ros, the Theodore J. Castele University Professor and chair in the department of radiology of University Hospitals Case Medical Center and Case Western Reserve University, both in Cleveland, OH, has also been appointed to the ACR Commission on Education. The radiologist-in-chief of University Hospitals Health System is an expert in abdominal computed tomography (CT), abdominal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), liver, pancreatic and gastrointestinal radiology and health care management.

“The ACR Education Center will continue to offer an unparalleled case-based training experience — giving radiologists hands-on instruction in an intense simulation environment from world-class faculty in various subspecialties,” said Ros, who has served as visiting professor in abdominal imaging for the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, Washington, DC, and faculty member for the Radiology Leadership Institute®. “The Education Center’s program will be enhanced to provide critical training for those who wish to cover new modalities, sharpen existing skills or expand expertise,” he added.
