New title announcement from Mr. Richard Villar, Editor-in-Chief
Newswise — A new era dawns: 2013 sees The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery (British Volume), our much trusted and reliable touchstone in orthopaedic literature, change name to ‘The Bone & Joint Journal’.
The transition, we trust, will be seamless. The Journal will continue to maintain and nurture the same educational values and editorial standards as before, while constantly developing to meet the changing needs of our readers and authors throughout the world.
Founded by Sir Reginald Watson-Jones in 1948 and pioneered by many of the great names within orthopaedics, the Journal has formed a huge part of the medical community for many years. Clinicians and researchers have searched its pages for orthopaedic detail at all hours of the day and night; orthopaedic residents have used it to help study for major examinations and authors have gained much pride when their papers have appeared between its covers.
Yet it is with equal pride that we welcome our new title, The Bone & Joint Journal, or BJJ. Our aim has been to transform our treasured Journal so that you will barely see the join. The transition from one title to another is a great opportunity, particularly with a readership as loyal, as supportive, as intelligent and yet as demanding as the readers we have today.
We have also recognised the expanding needs of our online users and this is reflected in the Bone & Joint website. With channels dedicated to each orthopaedic specialty, a multimedia library, a semantic search function and the Bone & Joint app, we have developed quicker ways of accessing essential information for the time-constrained, busy orthopaedic community.
