Newswise — Northwest Hospital has opened and is operating its own retail pharmacy in the main lobby of the hospital off of Old Court Road in Randallstown. The LifeBridge Health Pharmacy at Northwest Hospital provides prescriptions to patients, their families, employees and residents in the community.

“Our goal in opening the pharmacy is to make it convenient for patients being discharged from the hospital, including the emergency room, and for employees to receive their medications without going to a different location, all of which may lead to better medication compliance,” said David Garner, director of Retail Health for LifeBridge Health. “We are competitively priced with other retail pharmacies in the area and provide many products that customers expect to find in neighborhood pharmacies.”

The pharmacy, in keeping with the image of Northwest Hospital, provides a warm and inviting environment, while offering state-of-the-art technology in dispensing and keeping track of patient records.

In addition to prescriptions, the LifeBridge Health Pharmacy at Northwest Hospital will provide a full range of over-the-counter medications, optical supplies, diabetic supplies and bandages.

Hours for the LifeBridge Pharmacy at Northwest Hospital are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The phone number for the pharmacy is 410-701-4455.

A second retail pharmacy is expected to open at Sinai Hospital in the fall of 2011.

Northwest Hospital is part of LifeBridge Health, one of the largest, most comprehensive providers of health services in northwest Baltimore.
