Newswise — New York State recently deemed dodge ball, freeze tag, wiffle ball and other traditional children’s activities as dangerous in an attempt to keep kids safe.

“This is going a bit too far,” said Dr. Karen Judy, Loyola University Health System pediatrician and safety expert. “Kids need to run around and play outside more, not less. By saying games like freeze tag and wiffle ball are unsafe, these legislators are just making our kids more sedentary. Obesity is much more of a health concern than these often favorite kids’ games.”

Dr. Judy is available to comment on this new ruling and how this is a slippery slope in the fight against obesity.
