Newswise — Dr. Phillip Knutel, former Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Bentley University, has been named Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Babson College.

As Vice President and CIO, he will apply his experience in employing a wide range of academic and administrative technology solutions to lead the planning, administration and oversight of all of Babson’s information systems, telecommunications, the library, IT security, and online learning project development and execution. He will also be working to create and implement a long-term strategy to align the College’s IT priorities with its mission and curriculum.

At Bentley, Dr. Knutel strove to constantly improve academic technology and library services by using creative, innovative approaches that leveraged nascent technologies and helped faculty integrate technology resources to improve student learning as well as assist students and faculty in conducting research effectively.

He also oversaw the renovation that transformed the campus library, underscoring the importance of a library as a place for collaboration and quiet contemplation in addition to extensive online research resources.

Dr. Knutel was responsible for the design and delivery of high quality blended and hybrid online courses in which enrollments exceeded 20,000 since 2000. He also served as a faculty member in Bentley’s Information Design and Corporate Communication Department.

He holds a BS magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University (where he also served as president of his college student association), an EdM from Harvard University, and PhD in higher education administration from the University of Michigan. For more info, visit http://bit.ly/1wGU7eU
