Newswise — Every two years, the worldwide particle physics community converges to share new results, announce new projects and talk about the most intriguing mysteries of the universe. In August, the International Conference on High Energy Physics will come to Chicago, Ill., bringing with it hundreds of scientists on the cutting edge of the field.
Registration for the 38th ICHEP, which will take place Aug. 3-10, is now open. Members of the media can attend free, and gain free access to all press conferences and events.
With the recent announcement of a potentially significant anomaly in data collected from the Large Hadron Collider, attendance will be strong, and interest will be high. New results concerning this anomaly are expected at ICHEP, and they top a long list of talks on the latest advances in fields including neutrino physics, muon physics, cosmology, accelerator and detector design, among others.
In addition, ICHEP will present a public lecture on the recent detection of gravitational waves, and will pit five scientists against one another in a no-holds-barred physics slam. Opportunities will be presented to visit the Chicago area’s main scientific attractions, including the University of Chicago, Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory and Argonne National Laboratory.
