Newswise — Washington, DC- The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) has selected Eastern Washington University to host the 2015 National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR). This esteemed event brings together more than 3,000 students and their faculty mentors for a three day conference. NCUR provides students with the opportunity to present their scholarly research in a professional setting and interact with their peers, in addition to meeting with graduate school recruiters. The event will take place in Cheney, WA on April 16-18, 2015.
NCUR is dedicated to promoting undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity in all fields of study, this gathering of young scholars welcomes presenters from all institutions of higher learning and from all corners of the academic curriculum. Through this annual conference, NCUR creates a unique environment for the celebration and promotion of undergraduate student achievement, provides models of exemplary research and scholarship, and helps to improve the state of undergraduate education.
While discussing the selection Elizabeth Ambos, CUR’s Executive Director, stated “Eastern Washington University provided an excellent proposal that highlighted the commitment of the campus faculty, staff, and administrators to the culture and practice of undergraduate research, and the strong partnership between the university and Spokane business and civic communities. EWU provided detailed and thoughtful plans for conference logistics and infrastructure support to the NCUR oversight committee. On behalf of the Council of Undergraduate Research, allow me to express my pleasure at the prospect of working with EWU to prepare what I know will be an outstanding 2015 conference.”
CUR would also like to express their appreciation for the support of undergraduate research from the 2013 and 2014 NCUR hosts. The University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse will host the event later this spring, April 11-13, 2013. And the 2014 event will be held on the campus of the University of Kentucky from April 3-5.
