Newswise — New Mexico State University assistant professor of biology Immo Hansen and his team are testing various types of mosquito repellents to determine which are most effective as part of research about disease-transmitting mosquitoes, specifically the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which carries the Zika virus. A study last year about spray-on repellents revealed some surprising results -- a particular perfume was more effective than some commercial mosquito repellents. Hansen's lab is testing clip-on mosquito repellents and expects to have results of the study this summer.
