Newswise — FAYETTEVILLE, AR - July 25th marks the 91st anniversary of the verdict in the Scopes monkey trial, one of the best-known legal challenges to the teaching of evolution.

A new book, The Scopes Monkey Trial (https://www.arcadiapublishing.com/Products/9781467116480), presents an illustrated history of the event, using both rare and familiar images. University of Arkansas professor William F. McComas co-wrote the book and is available to talk about this pivotal event in the history of science.

McComas teaches an interdisciplinary course for Honors College undergraduates called “The Darwin Course,” has written several biology textbooks and is a winner of the Evolution Education Award presented by the National Association of Biology Teachers.
