Newswise — In the wake of the shooting of Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, Neal Naff, M.D., chief of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Sandra and Malcolm Berman Brain & Spine Institute at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore is available to explain this surgery- which he has performed many times-, other kinds of brain surgeries and their recovery processes.
In addition to his leadership at the Sandra and Malcolm Berman Brain & Spine Institute, Dr. Naff is also president of Chesapeake Neurosurgery, L.L.C., the director of Clinical Neuroscience Education at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a consulting director of Peripheral Nerve Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
He consistently makes time in his professional career to teach students and other surgeons about his chosen profession. Dr. Naff also sits on the Medical Executive Committee at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, is treasurer of the Maryland Neurosurgical Society and is a member of the American Association of Neurologic Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the Maryland Neurosurgical Society and the American Medical Association and other affiliations.
Dr. Naff’s research efforts include working with the National Institutes of Health and the National Stroke Association. Additionally, this published physician is passionate about educating the public about the brain, its complexities and its healing process.
