Newswise —

JoVE (Journal of Visualized Experiments), the revolutionary scientific journal that pairs peer-reviewed scholarly text with high quality videos, is proud to announce that submissions are now open for JoVE Behavior, a new section of the journal.  This new section will enable scientists studying behavior to publish cutting edge methodologies and innovations in a video format, bringing this scientific field to new levels of productivity, reproducibility and transparency.

JoVE Behavior will launch in June and will include observational and experimental techniques that seek to rationalize human and animal behavior as well as implicated brain regions, physiological changes, and underlying genetic causes. This new section is expected to include articles such as "How to Detect Amygdala Activity with Magnetoencephalography using Source Imaging" and "Using Chronic Social Stress to Model Postpartum Depression in Lactating Rodents."

Deputy Editorial Director of the Life Sciences Allison Diamond says, "We're excited to open submissions for JoVE Behavior and to provide a platform to publish behavior research techniques involving human and animal subjects. JoVE articles are uniquely suited for publication of behavioral protocols because our video-articles can demonstrate subtle complexities not easily expressed in a text format."

Founded in 2006, JoVE has published over 2,200 video articles in seven scientific disciplines. The journal publishes high quality, peer-reviewed manuscripts accompanied by professionally made videos. The journal is currently accepting submissions to JoVE Behavior; for more information please e-mail [email protected]

About JoVE, the Journal of Visualized Experiments:

JoVE, the Journal of Visualized Experiments, is the first and only PubMed/MEDLINE-indexed, peer-reviewed journal devoted to publishing scientific research in a video format. Using an international network of videographers, JoVE films and edits videos of researchers performing new experimental techniques at top universities, allowing students and scientists to learn them much more quickly. As of April 2013, JoVE has published video-protocols from an international community of nearly 6,000 authors in the fields of biology, medicine, chemistry, and physics.
